Effect of Heat Treatment and Sulfuric Acid Anodization on Corrosion Resistance of Aluminum Alloy (AA7075)

This paper, studied the effect of heat treatment and anodization on corrosion resistance aluminum alloy 7075 (AA7075), with a view to improving its resistance. Microstructure micro hardness anodic film samples were aid optical metallurgical microscope automated testing machine. Linear polarization methods used assess behaviour in 0.5M HCl. The microstructure annealed sample showed formation dendrites while precipitation hardened palm kernel oil SAE 40 engine precipitates MgZn2. SEMS result pores cracks surfaces anodized samples, as cast sulfuric acid exhibiting most compact few pores. shows highest value 205.33 HV, least 150.67 HV was recorded acid. Analysis potentiodynamic data curves linear relationship (decrease icorr, decreases rate) between current density rate all samples. Higher 15.093 ?/cm2 by Sulfuric (SA) treated plus SA lowest 5.2311 ?/cm2. Heat alone improves AA 0.5 M HCl solution but does not improve same environment.
